How to Find Clothes From a Pinterest Photo
Pinterest boards are full of outfits with no label on them. Some pins lead back to a shop; many do not. Here is how to find the clothes either way.
Updated
In short: Check where the pin links to first. If it does not lead to the clothes, save the image and upload it to Style Scout. It picks out each piece, finds the closest match across fashion retailers and a cheaper alternative on Amazon when one is found.
Why pins are hard to trace
A pin is a picture that has been saved, saved again and sometimes cropped or recolored on the way to your board. The shop that first showed the outfit may be several saves back, and the link on the pin may no longer lead there. That is why a source link is worth checking, and why it is not worth chasing for long.
Check the pin first
- Follow the link on the pin. If it ends at a shop or the creator's own page, the piece may be listed there.
- Read the description and comments. People often name brands or ask where something is from, and answer each other.
- Look at the creator's other pins. Outfits are often shot in series, with the pieces named on a related post.
When the pin leads nowhere: scan the picture
- 1
Open the pin at full size and save the image or take a screenshot.
- 2
Upload it to Style Scout — no sign-up needed.
- 3
Tap any piece it marks and compare the closest match with the pin.
- 4
Look at the cheaper alternative if one was found, then save or share the result.
Pins that show the whole outfit on one person work best. Flat lays and collages show the clothes but not how they sit, so expect looser matches. For tips on choosing and cropping the image, see how to find an outfit from a photo.
Match one piece at a time
If a pin has one standout piece, a closer guide helps: see shirts, pants and jeans, bags and how to find cheaper alternatives to any outfit.

Frequently asked
How do I find where a Pinterest outfit is from?
Open the pin and follow its link, then read the description and comments, since they sometimes name the brand or the shop. If the pin leads nowhere useful, save the image and upload it to Style Scout to see the closest matches at fashion retailers.
Why does a pin lead to a blog or an unrelated page?
Pins are often saved again and again, and the link can end up pointing at a page that only reposts the picture. When the trail goes cold, scanning the picture itself is faster than hunting for the original source.
Does it matter that Pinterest images are small or edited?
A bigger, cleaner image gives a better match. Open the pin at full size before you save it. Heavy filters and collage layouts make color and shape harder to read, so use the cleanest version you can find.
Can I scan a whole board?
Style Scout scans one photo at a time. Pick the pins you care about most and scan them one by one. Each result lists every piece it found in that photo.
Will I find the exact item?
Sometimes the closest match is the very piece, and sometimes it is a similar one. A photo cannot prove which product it is, so compare the details on the product page with the pin.
Can I find a cheaper version of a pinned outfit?
Often. Style Scout shows a cheaper pick on Amazon alongside the closest match when one is found. Check the fabric, fit and reviews before you decide.
